Sample: Little Tokyo is a 125-year old ethnic neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles and is a National Historic Landmark. The Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has been working actively in the historic and cultural preservation of this area. Some projects include the restoration of the Old Union Churcn, the historic Far East building.

                                  Hi Bill,

Good talking to you the other day regarding the conference. I look forward to meeting with others that are interested in the subject of API historic preservation.

Per your suggestion, I will give a little background on my efforts. I am the founder and director of the Chinese American Museum of Northern California, located in Marysville, once the second largest Chinatown in America. The Marysville Chinatown is also known as "The Last Chinatown of Gold Rush California."

While many of the buildings in the Chinatown have been destroyed during a redevelopment effort in the 1970's, much remains. The Bok Kai Temple is located there, the only active Chinese temple that dates back to the gold rush.

Every year the Temple sponsors a Bomb Day Festival. During the celebration, our museum offers a lecture series. Speakers in the past have included profs. Ling chi Wang, Judy Yung, Yong Chen, Jonathan Lee and others. This past March we invited the directors of all the old Chinese temples to speak.

Our museum is located in the heart of the old Chinatown in a building built in 1858 that has been renovated. It has several exhibitions including Chinese American History in Ten Easy Steps, The Lost Chinatowns of Old California--Ghost Towns and Survivors, and The Sanfow Bean Sprout Plant.

In addition to my work at the museum, I have also co-authored two Arcadia Publishing Images of America books. One is Marysville's Chinatown and the other is Sacramento's Chinatown. They may be purchased on Amazon.com as well as other websites.

                                  See you in San Francisco.

                                  Best,

                                  Brian Tom
